Livingston Girl's Softball Association President, Greg Munson gladly stands in a place that he only visualized less than a year ago.
Investing In Our Youth, City of Livingston and Volunteers Open Girls Softball Facilities, LIVINGSTON, April 15, 2014 - In just a little over six months, the Livingston Girl's Softball Association President, Greg Munson, with immense help from Vice President, Keith Howard, as well as small army of selfless volunteers and cooperation from Livingston City Council, have opened a super nice softball park for girls.  "This is one of the nicest facilities within 200 miles" Munson said.  "We have girls come from all over the county, and many from outside of Polk County to play softball here", he said.  Indeed.  The all new facilities (located at Pedigo Park in Livingston) feature four regulation playing fields, concrete sidewalks leading to the fields, a huge concession stand, covered stands to keep the sun and rain off the fans, all new field lighting for night games, and lots of parking space.

No Small League...
Participation in the girls softball league has been so robust that the league has a total of 35 teams.  The teams are based in Livingston and Onalaska.  On this day, all four fields were being used with teams playing each other in adult monitored and assisted competitive softball games for girls.

For the official christening of the fields, Livingston Mayor, Clarke Evans was joined by other City of Livingston Council Members, Munson and Howard, and lots of girls for an official picture.  Mayor Evans threw out the ceremonial first pitch.  After those necessary formalities, the girls teams eagerly went back to their respective fields and the games were on.  The fields were completely built by volunteers and the construction costs were over $100,000.  Much of the equipment and materials were donated to the Livingston Girls Softball Association.  Be sure to look up and like the Livingston Girls Softball Associaton on Facebook.
