The Livingston Girls Little Dribblers Junior Division Regional Champs Prove to be Winners
The Girls Junior Division Regional Champions played in a tournament that was held in Crockett on May 14th & 15th. They went undefeated in the tournament by defeating Madisonville and host team Crockett. The girls then advanced to the National American Junior Division Little Dribblers Tournament held in Fairfield on June 9-12. The tournament consisted of 14 teams from around the state. The girls defeated Gulf Coast in the first game on Wednesday. The next morning (Thursday) at 8 am they played host team Fairfield and defeated them and advanced to face a tough Greenwood team. The game started at 4:45 pm and both teams started sluggish but in the end Livingston came out on top. Still undefeated they moved on to play at 4:45 pm Friday against a small but mighty Shallowater team. They suffered their first defeat in the tournament by a mere 6 points. This pushed the girls to the loser's bracket and playing Brownsboro at 11:45 am Saturday morning. This game was very exciting for both teams as they both exchanged leads throughout the game. It came down to the wire at the very end as Brownsboro capitalized on their free throws down the stretch and defeated Livingston by a mere 5 pts. The girls had a excellent season and made memories that will last forever. I would also like to add that it wouldn't have possible if not for the time and effort put in by Head Coach Ernest Jackson and his Assistant Demeka Harrell. -- Sherry Middleton
