George Pichardo, Jan. 27, 1960 - Jun. 16, 2009

Jorge Pichardo, age 48, a Livingston resident and City of Livingston employee, passed away on Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 at approximately 12:15 P.M. in a work- related accident which occurred in the 300 block of First Street.

The Livingston Police Department responded immediately to the scene, and Officers observed that Pichardo had suffered fatal injuries while operating a backhoe.  Precinct Two Justice of the Peace David Johnson was called to the scene and pronounced Pichardo deceased at 12:30 P.M.. Judge Johnson ordered an autopsy to be performed and Pichardo was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue by Cochran Funeral Home. The Livingston Police Department was assisted in the investigation of the scene by the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the investigation is still ongoing.

“Since coming to work for the City in 2005, George earned the respect of his fellow employees for his dedication to his job and for his willingness to work hard to accomplish whatever he could do to provide service for our citizens,” City Manager Marilyn Sutton said.  “He was well-loved by all of the City ‘family’ for his compassion, his sense of humor and his dedication to his family and to his community.”

“The Mayor, City Councilmembers and City of Livingston employees extend their sympathy and support to George’s family.  He will be greatly missed and we are deeply saddened by his death.”
