Strange Situation in Series of Fires in Short Period of Time, GOODRICH, October 9, 2022 - Between approximately 1 pm and 3 pm on October 9, 2022, approximately five small fires were ignited near roads in the vicinities of Livingston and Goodrich. It all started when two grass fires were somehow ignited off FM-1988 South in the Mt. Rose area. Livingston Fire Department responded and put the fires out. Shortly after that, there were two more fires less than a mile north of Livingston off US-59, another fire off 59 near CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital, and then there was another grass fire to the right of the south-bound side of 59 just south of Lone Star Charlie's Restaurant in Goodrich. Five fire departments including Livingston, Scenic Loop, Goodrich, Holliday Lake Estates, South Polk County were summoned to put the fires out. It is not known if the fires were intentionally set, or was possibly an accident. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident.
The fire in Goodrich spanned approximately 300 yards to the right side of the south-bound side of US-59.
