Double Wide Mobile Home Burns, SODA, November 22, 2009 - At approximately 12:35 am on November 22, 2009, neighbors in the Easton Oaks subdivision off of US-190 East reported a fire of a double wide mobile home located at 378 Encine Street. Volunteer fire departments from Livingston, Indian Springs, and the Alabama Coushatta Reservation were summoned to help extinguish the blaze that totaled the double wide mobile home. Also dispatched were Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Buie and Sergeant Rob Thomas. Livingston Fire Chief Corky Cochran stated that when his crew arrived the home was engulfed in flames with flames reaching over 20 feet into the air. By time the fire was extinguished the home was completely destroyed with only a few burnt walls left standing and a charred fabricated foundation on blocks. Chief Cochran also stated that they don't know the cause of the fire. According to neighbors, the home has been abandoned since Hurricane Ike tore through Polk County back in September of 2008. The case will be turned over to Polk County Fire Marshal Jay Barbee.
