Deputy Rey "El Rey" Davalos is investigating this fire.
Structure Fire Totals Building, LIVINGSTON, October 5, 2016 - At approximately 4:30 pm on October 5, 2016, a structure fire was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Building owner David Vanya came home and found the extra building (located next to his house, 3881 US-146 South) engulfed in flames. The building had no electricity. Vanya was allegedly using an extension cord running from his house into the building to use for power as the old building had been in the process of being torn down. Volunteer Firemen from Livingston and South Polk County VFDs arrived and doused the flames, but the building was totaled. The fire is believed to have possibly started from something faulty from the extension cord. A crew from Sam Houston Electric Cooperativearrived to assist. The building was not insured. Deputy Rey "El Rey" Davalos launched an initial investigation into the cause of the fire. Fortunately, nobody was injured during the incident.
When firemen arrived, the building was fully involved.
Deputy Davalos speaks with building owner, David Vanya.
Representatives from Sam Houston Electric Cooperative assisted.
