House Burns Down, LAKE LIVINGSTON VILLAGE, October 4, 2018 - At approximately 7 pm on October 3, 2018, a fire was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to 279 Somerset Road to find a shell home engulfed in flames. Scenic Loop VFD was quickly backed up by Livingston Volunteer Fire Department. Additionally, Deputy Byron Dunaway was dispatched to the scene to investigate. Firemen were able to put out the fire but the home was completely totaled. A crew from Sam Houston Electric Cooperative was dispatched to handle downed power lines from the blaze. Homeowner, Sharon Morris, 62, of Livingston, was not home when the fire started. Neighbors reportedly heard an explosion sound that preceded the fire. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident. Morris does not have homeowners insurance. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
