Livingston VFD Saves Home from Burning, LIVINGSTON, September 23, 2013 - At approximately 4:55 pm on September 22, 2013, a house fire was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Fire trucks from the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to 234 Dickens Oaks West to find a home with heavy smoke billowing from the windows and doors. Firemen were able to get the fire out but the home did sustain heavy damage from fire, smoke and water. Additionally, Deputy Jacob Chapman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to begin a preliminary investigation. Homeowner Joshua Long and his wife and their 3 children were not home when the fire was reported. Fortunately they had insurance. There were no reported injuries from the fire.
Trucks and men from Livingston VFD arrived within minutes after the fire was reported.
Deputy Jacob Chapman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation.
The fire is believed to have started in the rear of the home.
Firemen had the fire out in about 20 minutes, but the home did suffer heavy damage.
