Fire Takes Life of Woman, INDIAN SPRINGS, June 19, 2018 - Shortly before 6 pm on June 19, 2018, a house fire was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Firemen from Indian Springs, Livingston, and Alabama Coushatta Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to 654 The Old Don Road to find a small house engulfed in flames. Firemen put the fire out, but the home was totaled. Sadly, the homeowner, Pamela Norris, 59, of Indian Springs did not make it out of the home and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Justice of the Peace Jamie Jones performed an inquest at the scene. Additionally, Deputies Ron Goertz, Corporal Teddy Sims, Sergeant Javier Segura, and Detective Christy Allen with the Polk County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to initiate an investigation into the incident. A crew from Sam Houston Electric Cooperative were dispatched to deal with electrical issues stemming from the fire. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported Norris from the scene to the Beaumont Medical Examiners Office. This incident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
