76 year old Johnnie Diamond's 1988 Dodge Pickup sits burned down to bare metal on the shoulder of 59 South in Goodrich.

Truck Fire, Driver Hospitalized, GOODRICH, May 11, 2020 - At approximately 5:40 pm on May 11, 2020, a brown 1988 Dodge pickup, driven by Johnnie Diamond, 76, of Lufkin, was south-bound on US-59. According to Diamond, his oil light came on and smoke started coming from under the hood. Diamond pulled his pickup to the right shoulder and exited his truck as it burned. Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Johnny Wooten with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Diamond's cab and engine compartment became engulfed in flames. Firemen extinguished the fire. Diamond apparently inhaled some smoke and was transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. No citations were issued. The burned up pickup was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.
