Fire Totals Home in South Polk County, WILD COUNTRY, April 28, 2014 - At around 10:45 am on April 28, 2014, a house fire was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Trucks from South Polk County, North Liberty County, and Livingston arrived to find a two story home located at 351 East George Jones Road located in the subdivision of Wild Country (off US-146), fully involved. The firemen were able to extinguish the blaze, but the home was totaled. Americare Ambulance Service sent a unit the location, but fortunately, nobody was injured. The home was occupied by William Conway. According to Conway, he was using a portable stove to cook in his bedroom. Conway reportedly left the room while the portable stove was cooking. When Conway returned, his bedroom was on fire and out of control. Deputy Ray Davalos with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched and conducted a preliminary investigation before turning the investigation over to Polk County Fire Marshall, Shannon Barron. William Conway did not have home owner's insurance.
A 2 story home located at 351 East George Jones Road in the subdivision of Wild Country was totaled by fire.

Firemen were able to extinguish the fire, but not before the home was totaled. The homeowner did not have homeowner's insurance.
North Liberty County sent trucks and men to assist.
