Goodrich Fire Chief, Ken Hambrick (right), speaks with Chief Corky Cochran.

Fire Destroys Home, Cars, Travel Trailer, GOODRICH, February 2, 2023 - At approximately 7:40 pm on February 2, 2023, neighbors reported a house fire at the address of 130 Edmond Street (off Loop 393). Goodrich and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. In addition to the house, a travel trailer parked next to the house, and two vehicles completely burned. The owner of the home, Angelina Galvez, 50, was not at home when the fire broke out. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Corporal Darren Brooks and Deputy Austin Goins with the Polk County Sheriff's Office initiated a preliminary investigation. According to a source, Galvez had left a space heater on for pets and this is believed to be the likely cause of the fire. The fire was extinguished, but the home was completely destroyed.
