Elderly Couple Lose Everything in Mobile Home Fire, LIVINGSTON, January 26, 2008 - Shortly after 4 o'clock pm on Saturday, January 26, 2008 a structure fire was reported from the Indian Springs subdivision off of Highway 190 E. The structure was a mobile home on 167 Becker Blvd. in Indian Springs and owned by Daniel Forbus, 61, and his wife. The fire completely destroyed their mobile home and everything inside, including their six pet dogs. Neighbors reported that they could hear the dogs screaming as the fire raged, but could not get to the dogs to rescue them. Daniel Forbus was visibly upset and told Polk County Today that the response time was horrible. Forbus stated that it took nearly an hour before emergency personnel showed up on the scene to douse the fire, by then, the mobile home was completely engulfed in flames. Fire response came from the Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Dept, the Livingston Volunteer Fire Dept., and the Alabama Coushatta Volunteer Fire Dept. There were also Polk County Sheriff's deputies at the scene. Forbus had no homeowner insurance.
