Another Chase Ends in Polk County, LIVINGSTON, September 20, 2009 - A chase that originated in San Jacinto County entered into Polk County over the Trinity River Bridge in Goodrich when Sheriff's Deputies from San Jacinto County were pursuing a red 2008 Ford F-150 driven by Kelly Maunts, 21, of Woodville. Maunts allegedly struck an 18 wheeler while driving in San Jacinto County, but fled the scene. When located by Sheriff's Deputies, Maunts chose to evade and the chase hit speeds of 95+ miles per hour. The chase ended when the truck collided with a Livingston police car driven by Officer Jason Thomas with the Livingston Police Department. DPS Trooper Bill Clark and several other Troopers, Deputies from San Jacinto County and Polk County, and Livingston Police converged on the scene of the chase turned accident that occurred on the entrance to Pan American Drive (near Baskins Clothing Store). Kelly Maunts and her passenger, Zachary Moye, 24, also of Woodville, were apprehended and taken into custody. Initially Zachary Moye fled the scene into the nearby woods, but was caught by Sheriff's Deputies. Moye was found in possession of a large zip lock bag containing marijuana. Moye was loaded into a San Jacinto Sheriff's Deputy Patrol Unit and taken to San Jacinto County Jail where he was booked in and charged with possession of narcotics. Kelly Maunts was taken to Polk County Sheriff's Office and booked in for felony evasion and aggravated assault (colliding with a police car is legally assault). Maunts also face charges in San Jacinto County. Maunts' vehicle was towed by a rollback wrecker from East Texas Towing out of Shepherd and her vehicle will be stored in Shepherd). The scene was cleared shortly before 1 am.
