Driver Arrested for DWI on Christmas Eve, LIVINGSTON, December 24, 2009 - Shortly after 2 pm on December 24, 2009, DPS Sergeant Nita Bowen spotted a red 1995 Ford F-150 driving erratically. According to Bowen, the truck would cross over onto the shoulder of the road, then back onto the road, then suddenly stop, then start again, make sudden turns, and not use turning indicator. Sergeant Bowen pulled the truck over on Business 59 in Livingston. The truck was being driven by Billy Gene Richardson, 55, of Winnie, Texas. Seconds later, DPS Trooper David Flowers pulled up to assist Bowen in the traffic stop. Richardson appeared to be intoxicated. Trooper Flowers attempted to administer a field sobriety test on Richardson, but Richardson couldn't seem to perform any of the required tasks for a sobriety test. Richardson was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and also received citations for no insurance and driving with a suspended license. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Richardson's vehicle and it will be stored at Pollock's Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 3:05 pm.
