Missing License Plate Leads to DWI and Arrest of Fugitive, LIVINGSTON, November 12, 2008 - At approximately 9:55 pm on November 12, 2008, DPS Trooper Darwon Evans pulled over a light brown 2001 Ford F-150 for no front license plate.  After attempting to get the truck to pull over for 2 blocks, Evans managed to get the truck to pull over in the parking lot of Sonic in Livingston.  Trooper Evans questioned the driver, Roger Dale Stroud, 46, of Diboll, and noticed that Stroud exhibited symptoms of being intoxicated.  According to Evans, he intended to write Stroud a warning ticket for no front license plate.  Evans administered a field sobriety test on Stroud in the parking lot of Sonic and Stroud failed.  Further, a check on Stroud revealed that he had a felony warrant out for his arrest out of Lufkin for criminal mischief.  Evans placed Stroud under arrest and he was charged with driving while intoxicated.  Stroud had insurance on his vehicle and his truck was driven away from the Sonic by a friend.  Stroud told PolkCountyToday.com that his arrest brought a sense of relief that he could stop running from the law.  Stroud was transported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office and booked into Jail.
