Trooper Darwon Evans puts the handcuffs on John Jesus Hernandez, 39, of Beaumont.
Intoxicated Driver Arrested, Nearly 3X Legal Limit, LIVINGSTON, August 22, 2010 - At approximately 4:30 pm on August 22, 2010, Sergeant Nita Bowen with the Texas Highway Patrol observed a blue Chevy Sierra that was south-bound on US-146.  According to Bowen, the vehicle was weaving in and out of it's lane.  Sergeant Bowen pulled the vehicle over near the Escapees RV Club on 146.  As Bowen spoke with the driver of the vehicle (John Jesus Fernandezs, 39, of Beaumont), she noticed signs of intoxication.  Within a few minutes, Trooper Darwon Evans arrived to support Bowen.  Trooper Evans administered a field sobriety test and placed Hernandez under arrest for driving while intoxicated.  Hernandez was traveling with his wife and two daughters (4 years and 10 years old).  According to DPS, a breathalyzer test was administered and Hernandez blew nearly 3 times the legal limit.  Hernandez's vehicle was driven away from the scene by a friend.
Sergeant Nita Bowen spotted Hernandez when his truck was weaving in and out of his lane.
Hernandez's wife (center) began to cry as her husband was being placed under arrest.
Editor's Comment:  While some readers may feel sorry for Hernandez with his wife crying as he's in cuffs, remember, it's Hernandez that chose to drink and drive and endanger his own life, his family's life, and the lives of other drivers.  Good job to the Troopers for getting this guy off the road before somebody was killed.
Hernandez was loaded into a DPS unit and taken to Polk County Jail.
