Driver Runs Car Into Ditch,Stuck, Gets Arrested for DWI, LIVINGSTON, June 28, 2008 - The driver of a green 1992 Ford Taurus Wagon ran her car into a ditch, got stuck on a culvert and was arrested for DWI. At approximately 2:15 pm on June 28, 2008, Cheryl Salinas of Livingston was crossing over 146 onto East Capps Road when she got her car stuck in a ditch on 146 at E. Capps. Polk County Sheriff Deputy Billy Duke spotted the accident and investigated. Duke suspected Salinas of being intoxicated and administered a field sobriety test which Salinas failed. Duke then requested a DPS Trooper. DPS Troopers Chris Stanbery and Brent Murray arrived to assist Duke in searching Salinas' vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, they found multiple quantities of prescription medication. Trooper Murray took samples (apparently for DPS lab testing). Duke transported Salinas to Livingston Memorial hospital for a blood sample. Afterwards, Salinas was taken to Polk County Jail and booked in for suspicion of DWI. Salinas' vehicle was towed away from the scene with a rollback wrecker from Ken's towing. Salinas' vehicle is being stored a Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
