DWI in Spring Creek Area, SPRING CREEK, June 14, 2012 - Shortly after 9 pm on June 13, 2012, a call was placed to the Polk County Sheriff's Office to report a possible intoxicated driver that was west-bound on US-190 West. Witnesses stated that the vehicle left the road into the grass and then re entered the pavement. An attempt to locate was radioed out by dispatchers with the Sheriff's Office. Officer Josh Alexander with the Onalaska Police Department happened to be in the vicinity and spotted the vehicle. According to Alexander, the vehicle was swerving into oncoming traffic. Officer Alexander initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the silver late model Dodge Caravan was Donald Marion Leonard, 63, of Trinity. Officer Alexander smelled the scent of alcohol on Leonard and conducted a field sobriety test. According to Officer Alexander, Leonard couldn't perform the tasks required for a field sobriety test. Alexander placed Donald Leonard under arrest and charged him with suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Leonard agreed to a blood withdrawal and was taken to Livingston Memorial Hospital where he gave a blood sample. Leonard was then driven to Polk County Jail and booked in. Leonard's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from George White & Sons Wrecker Service and will be stored in Onalaska.
