Deputy Dustin Lowery deals with 39 year old Alvaro Ramirez of Livingston.
Early Morning DWI, SCHWAB CITY, May 27, 2012 - Shortly before 9 am on May 27, 2012, a call came in to the Polk County Sheriff's Office to report a vehicle that was south-bound on US-146. The caller stated that the vehicle was swerving (sometimes into the lanes of oncoming north-bound traffic). Deputy Dustin Lowery was in the vicinity and caught up with the 1998 Mercury Marquis driven by Alvaro Ramirez, 39, of Livingston, just a shorth distance south of FM-2610. When Lowery spoke with Ramirez, he immediately smelled the strong odor of intoxicating beverage. Deputy Lowery summoned Trooper David Flowers with the Texas Highway Patrol. When Trooper Flowers arrived he attempted to conduct a field sobriety test on Ramirez, but Ramirez wouldn't respond to Flowers' orders. Ramirez was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and was driven to Memorial Medical Center in Livingston for a mandatory blood withdrawal. Ramirez's vehicle was recovered by Harwood Bros. Wrecker Service and will be stored at 101 Harwood Drive in Livingston.
Trooper David Flowers attempted a field sobriety test on Ramirez, but Ramirez wouldn't repsond to Flowers' orders.
Alvaro Ramirez was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Ramirez was driven to Memorial Medical Center in Livingston for a mandatory blood withdrawal.
During a vehicle inventory, quality iced down Mexican beer was found in the trunk of Ramirez's car.
Ramirez's vehicle was recovered by Big Jim Harwood's brother.
