This vehicle had just been purchased 4 hours earlier by a young teen.
Teen's New Car Wrecked by Drunk Driver, LIVINGSTON, May 4, 2010 - Shortly before 8 pm on May 4, 2010, a white 2003 Ford Focus driven by Paige Storze, 18, of Livingston was west-bound on FM-1988 near FM-3126. Storze had just purchased the car only a few hours earlier when she clipped the front end of a green, 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Floyd Kirk Hayes, 50, of Onalaska. Hayes, was east-bound on FM-1988 and attempted to make a left turn onto FM-3126 when he failed to yield right-of-way to Storze. Storze's driver side front end clipped the front driver's side of Hayes' truck disabling both vehicles. Deputy Craig Taylor with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene along with DPS Trooper Darwon Evans. All vehicle occupants were physically okay. Trooper Evans administered a field sobriety test on Hayes and placed him under arrested for driving while intoxicated. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Both parties had insurance. Hayes was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and failure to yield right-of-way. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service recovered Storze's vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston while Hayes' vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared before 9 pm.
