Alleged Intoxicated Driver Arrested on 146, LIVINGSTON, April 9, 2013 - At approximately 8:45 pm on April 8, 2013, calls came in to the Polk County Sheriff's Office to report a reckless and erratic driver that was south-bound on US-146. The driver reportedly left the road into the grass, but then pulled out of the grass back onto the pavement continuing south-bound. Sergeant Christian Schanmier with the Polk County Sheriff's Office managed to catch up to the vehicle near Old Tram Road. Once again, the vehicle had left the road and was in the grass. Sergeant Shcanmier approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Jennifer Nichole Neal, 28, of Livingston. Neal appeared very intoxicated. Trooper Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene. Akers spoke with Neal and attempted to conduct a field sobriety test on Neal. Neal appeared to intoxicated to even try to walk a straight line, or even stand in place without staggering. Jennifer Neal was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Towing recovered her vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston.
When Sergeant Schanmier caught up with Neal, she had vommited on herself and on the seat and floor of her vehicle.
Neal was driving this 2001 Ford Escape.
Trooper Donny Akers placed Neal under arrest after she appeared too intoxicated to even execute tasks for a field sobriety test.
