Gary Baker, 43, of Livingston
Intoxicated Driver Arrested After Hit and Run, LEGGETT, March 17, 2011 - Shortly before 10 pm on March 16, 2011, Guy Weston Nicholson, of Humble, was south-bound on North Houston in Livingston.  As Nicholson crossed over Abbey Street, his car broad sided an east-bound brown Chevy truck driven by Gary Baker, 43, of Livingston.  Baker was east-bound on Abbey and failed to stop at a stop sign and didn't have the right of way.  Baker chose to not stop and kept going.  A friend of Nicholson's pursued Baker and caught up to him, got out of his car and confronted Baker who allegedly brandished a pistol and advised the man to go away.  By now Livingston Police were dispatched and pursued Baker who made it to US-59 and was north-bound.  Sergeant Scott Paske with LPD managed to pull Baker over at the parking lot of Leggett High School.  Paske was soon joined by fellow Officer Jason Thomas and Sergeant Christian Schanmier with the Polk County Sheriff's Office.  Officer Thomas administered a field sobriety test and Baker was allegedly too intoxicated to perform the required tasks.  Gary Baker was placed under arrest and so far has been charged with failure to stop and render aid from an accident, and driving while intoxicated.  His vehicle was towed by LakeView Wrecker Service and will be stored in Livingston.  Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured in the accident.  Baker is employed by the Livingston Independent School District Transportation Division.  Baker was booked into Polk County Jail.
LPD caught up with Baker in Leggett. Officer Jason Thomas with the Livingston Police Department administered a field sobriety test. Baker's elbow was bloodied apparently from the car accident.
Baker's truck was T-boned by another vehicle when he ran a stop sign.
