Driver Parallel Parks in Trees, Arrested for DWI, GOODRICH, February 13, 2009 - At approximately 8:40 pm on February 13, 2009 a burgundy colored 1994 Buick Century driven by James Milton Sifferman, 84, of Goodrich was south-bound of FM-2969 and attempted a right turn onto River Lakes Road in Goodrich and pulled right into the trees as if parallel parking in the trees. Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Keith Franklin was dispatched to the scene along with Americare Ambulance Service and DPS Trooper Kevin Burman. Sifferman appeared intoxicated and Trooper Burman administered a field sobriety test as Sifferman could not seem to perform any of the requested exercises involved in the test. Sifferman then agreed to a breathalyzer test and blew nearly twice the legal limit. Sifferman was loaded into Trooper Burman's patrol unit and taken to Polk County Jail and booked in for driving while intoxicated. Sifferman did have insurance and his vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service and it will be stored at LakeView Wrecker in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 10:10 pm.
