UPDATE: Name and Details Released on Holiday Lake Estates Drowning

On August 7, 2012, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a drowning in the Holiday Lakes Subdivision. Deputies were met by first responders from the Holiday Lakes Subdivision Volunteer Fire Department, who escorted the deputies to sight of the drowning. 39 year old Shawn David Brashier, was found deceased on the bank of the Trinity River.
Shawn David Brashier of Burke, Texas was visiting his sister in the Holiday Day Lakes Subdivision, when he and his girlfriend 30 year old Kountess Brown of Hudson, Texas decided to go down to the river. At 7:53pm a 911 caller advised Kountess Brown was found walking on Pecan Dr. stating her boyfriend had drowned.
Justice of the Peace Pct #2, David Johnson performed an inquest and sent Brashiers body to the Jefferson County Forensic Lab for an autopsy.
Man Reportedly Drowns in Trinity River, HOLIDAY LAKE ESTATES, August 8, 2012 - Sometime around 8 pm on August 7, 2012, the Polk County Sheriff's Office was alerted of a possible drowning within the subdivision of Holiday Lake Estates (located of FM-2665 in South Polk County). Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office were dispatched including Chief Deputy Byron Lyons, Lieutenant Mark Jones, Sergeant William Jerry, and Deputy Byron Dunaway. The victim (name being withheld pending notification of relatives), is reportedly a 38 year old Lufkin man. The alleged drowning occurred off a narrow unpaved road off of River Road in the back of the subdivision, where there was a trail located on private property that led to the area where the incident occurred. According to witnesses the victim was swimming with his girl friend and climbed up on the bank and was having physical problems. His girlfriend left him and went for help. Upon returning, he was found in the water near the spot where he initially crawled out of the water. A first call car from Cochran Funeral Home retrieved the man who was taken to Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston. More details coming when they're released to PolkCountyToday.com.
