15 Year Old Drowning Victim Recovered, SWARTWOUT, July 11, 2022 - The drowning victim who slipped under the surface of the Trinity River on Sunday (July 10) has been recovered. The teen was a 15 year old boy from the Houston area. The drowning occurred on Sunday afternoon during the 4 pm hour when he was reportedly swimming with friends. The teen went out further than his friends, went under, and did not resurface. Because the teen is a minor (below the age of 17) his name will likely not be released to the public by authorities.

This incident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Trinity River near the FM-3278 Bridge on Sunday afternoon

Alleged Drowning in the Trinity River, SWARTWOUT, July 10, 2022 - Sometime around 4 pm on Sunday, July 10, 2022, a man allegedly slipped beneath the surface of the Trinity River while swimming with friends. The alleged drowning occurred near the bridge (just south) on FM-3278 near the Polk County side of the shore. Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, State Game Wardens, and boats from the Camilla and Shepherd Volunteer Fire Departments were being utilized during the search. At time of press, this is all the information that we have. We'll update this story as soon as we're able to ascertain more information.
