Man Drowns in Lake Livingston, Alcohol Suspected, SCENIC LOOP, May 30, 2011 - At approximately 3:08 pm on May 28, 2011, Russell Crantz, 44, of Houston, was pulling a tube with his boat in Lake Livingston.  "Tubing" as it is commonly referred to, is when you hook a large inflated tire tube to a motor boat with a long rope and pull a person on the water for enjoyment.  Crantz was pulling his buddy Roy Patrick, 33, also of Houston.  At some point, Patrick fell off the tube and did not resurface.  The Scenic Loop and the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene along with State Game Wardens Ryan Hall, David Johnson, and Brandon Mosley.  After a lengthy search, Roy Patrick's body was recovered from the water.  Alcohol is suspected.  Russell Crantz was arrested and taken to Livingston Memorial Hospital for a mandatory blood withdrawal.  Crantz was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
