SHOOT OUT IN SHELBYVILLE

Bulldog Defense and Offense Shine, SHELBYVILLE, November 17, 2018 - Okay, I'm just gonna come out and say it.  I was in California on my way back to Texas when this game went down.  Not to worry, the The Great One, Willie A. Openshaw was on hand at the game to put together a great highlight reel.  The setting was Shelbyville and featured the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs vs the Elysian Fields Yellow Jackets in the first round of the playoffs.  According to the Willster, the game was close and the teams were evenly matched.  Both teams featured a balanced offensive attack of passing and running.  What was key for the Dogs was a goal line stand and another defensive stand when the Jackets were on the Dogs five yard line.  Other obvious keys to the game for the Bulldogs win was the bread and butter running of running back, Ashton Jones, clutch pass receptions by receiver Zack Ivie, and offensive leadership of Quarterback, Dohn Freeman.

SCORING SUMMARY

First Quarter: 10:10, Jackets 20 yard td pass missed pat Jackets 6/0
5:16  Ashton Jones 33 yd td run w pat, Dogs 7/6
1:31  Dogs 1 yard td on QB keeper by Dohn Freeman w pat Dogs 14/6

Second Quarter: 9:47 Jackets 3 yard td run w 2 point cnv game tied 14/14
1:55  Jones 21 yard td run w pat Dogs 21/14
1:12  Jackets 40 yard td pass w pat 21/21

Third Quarter:  4:31 Freeman 4 yd td on qb keeper w pat Dogs 28/21

Fourth Quarter:  7:06 Jones 10 yard td run missed pat  Dogs 34/21
5:27 Jackets 41 yard TD pass missed pat

FINAL SCORE:  Bulldogs 34, Yellow Jackets 27

With the Dogs up 34 to 27 (and the Yellow Jackets' ability to be able to score quickly), a handoff to Ashton Jones iced the game when he forced and willed his way to a first down.  That run by Jones was nothing more than a couple of yards, but it was enough to allow the Dogs to keep the ball and run the game clock out (and not give the Jackets a chance to get the ball back).  Game over.  The Dogs as usual, showed a lot of grit and were able to deliver when it was gut check time (including the goal line stands by the Dog Defense).

Enjoy the Highlight Reel below.  The Willster out did himself on this one.  Enjoy!
