Driving in School Zone While Texting Leads to Marijuana Bust, CORRIGAN, October 28, 2018 - On Thursday October 25, 2018 Corrigan Police Officer Anthony Yaw initiated a probable cause traffic stop on a motorist traveling through the City Limits of Corrigan, Texas. Officer Yaw was working the Highway 59 School Zone and observed the driver of the vehicle, Hunter Lee Evans, 19, of Katy, utilizing his cell phone in the School Zone. Officer Yaw conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and immediately smelled what he believed to be burnt marijuana. Yaw obtained consent to search the vehicle and located a substantial amount of marijuana. The driver was arrested for possession of marijuana (just under three and a half pounds). The Corrigan Police Department would like to remind everyone to observe all warning signs and pay close attention while traveling through posted school zones or while following or approaching a school bus.
