Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Drug Charge, ONALASKA, August 4, 2012 - Shortly before 4 pm on August 4, 2012, Officer Michael Pleytez with the Onalaska Police Department stopped a tan Ford Ranger in the Chevron Parking Lot off 190 West at FM-356. Pleytez noticed that the driver, Wayne Lambright, 41, of Trinity, and his passenger, wife 38 year old Billie Jo Lambright were very nervous. Pleytez asked if they had any contraband, they said yes. Pleytez asked for consent to search vehicle. Consent was given. Pleytez was quickly backed up by Deputies Troy Binford and Terry Valka with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Pleytez noticed that Mrs. Lambright was holding tight to her purse. Officer Pleytez asked to search her purse, and she refused, however, by their admission to having contraband, probable cause was established which gives Officer Pleytez legal authority to search the purse. Eureka! Mrs. Lambright's purse contained methamphetamine, Xanax pills, meth pipe (with meth residue), marijuana, and a marijuana pipe. As for driver Wayne Lambright, he could only stand by as his wife was placed under arrest.
The Two Racked Up Some Hefty Fines and Charges...
Billie Jo Lambright: Felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia.
Wayne Lambright: Driving with a suspended license, expired registration, expired inspection, and no insurance (plus his vehicle was towed and impounded, AND he had to get a ride home with his mother-in-law).
Lambright's vehicle was towed from the scene by George White & Sons Wrecker Service and will be stored in Onalaska.
