Detectives seized over 800 lbs of homemade synthetic marijuana (finished product) from a residence in the Canyon Park subdivision on Thursday (June 4, 2015), and another 500 lbs. of unfinished product.
Detectives Seize Over 1,300 lbs of Homemade Synthetic Marijuana In a Clandestine Manufacturing Operation, ONALASKA, June 5, 2015 - On June 4, 2015, while assisting Agents from the Harris County area in regards to the manufacture and delivery of synthetic marijuana in the Polk County area, Polk County Narcotics Detectives along with Agents from the Harris County area responded to a residence located in the Canyon Park Subdivision of Polk County according to Sheriff Kenneth Hammack.
The investigation conducted at the residence, which has been purchased by a Harris County resident for the sole purpose of clandestine manufacture of large quantities of synthetic marijuana, for the purpose of illegal distribution. Approximately 813 pounds of finished product was recovered, along with approximately 585 pounds of unfinished product. The approximate street value for the finished product would be around $1,500,000.00 to $2, 000,000.00.
Sheriff Hammack advised this is the same type of material that people are buying with the names of K2, Kush, Spice and Potpourri. People are smoking these substances which are now made in garages, barns or warehouse buildings since the substances have been made illegal. They are not made or packaged in laboratories anymore and there are no controls on what is even put into these substances or what the substances have been exposed to prior to being placed in the packaging.
Sheriff Hammack stated this is a growing problem not just with people smoking the substances but with the side effects it has on the smoker which are equal to, or more intense than a person who is addicted to methamphetamine, crack cocaine and or cocaine. These substances are sending people to the emergency rooms everyday with some of the side effects being irreversible. Some users which have been interviewed advised this is the worse type of drug they have ever used and very addictive. They aluded to the withdrawals from synthetic marijuana are the worst they have ever experienced.
Jarlin Armando Ulloa and Mirna Rosibel Erazo Ulloa from Rebublica De Honduras were arrested for manufacture/delivery of synthetic marijuana a first degree felony. Ali Sayed from the Sugar Land area was arrested for manufacture/delivery of synthetic marijuana a first degree felony. Bonds are set at one million dollars for each of the three subjects.
This is the first clandestine synthetic marijuana lab and the biggest synthetic marijuana seizure in Polk County history.
