Trooper Rodney Dubose pulled over this 1996 Ford Taurus when he noticed that the license plate light bulb was out.
4 Lbs. of Marijuana Seized in Routine Traffic Stop, GOODRICH, May 5, 2011 - Shortly before midnight on May 4, 2011, DPS Trooper Rodney Dubose with the Texas Highway Patrol was on duty on US-59 south of Loop 393 in Goodrich. Trooper Dubose spotted a green 1996 Ford Taurus with the license plate light bulb out. Dubose pulled the vehicle over. When he questioned the driver he noticed a female passenger in the back seat fidgiting with something. He asked her to step out of the car. While Dubose was questioning her, he then asked the driver to step out of the car. When he stepped out, a joint fell from his clothing. Dubose spotted the contraband and the man took off running. Dubose was soon joined by other Troopers and Deputy Billy Duke with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Dubose now had probable cause and conducted a vehicle search. A trash bag in the back of the vehicle turned out to have 4 lbs of marijuana. The two female passengers were placed under arrest and a search was on for the man who left them hanging out to dry. The two female passengers were Brianna Cherrelle Henson, 20, of Lufkin, and a 15 year old also from Lufkin. Henson was taken to Polk County Jail and booked in and the 15 year old was taken into custody. The vehicle was towed by LakeView Towing and will be stored in Livingston. At time of press, the man who fled has yet to be found.
When Dubose searched the vehicle he spotted a large trash bag on the floor behind the driver's seat.
Trooper Dubose found 4 lbs. of the hippy lettuce in the trash bag.
4 large zip lock bags each containing 1 lb. of marijuana.
20 year old Brianna Cherrelle Henson didn't want to have her picture taken for some strange reason.
Canine Trooper "Raider" was beside himself when he smelled the marijuana.
