Michigan Man Guilty of Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault, LIVINGSTON, December 14, 2024 - From December 2, 2024 through December 11, 2024, an extensive trial was conducted at the Polk County Judicial Center regarding the April 15, 2022 death of Pamela Cadwalder and injuries to her husband, Ralph Cadwalder due to the reckless actions of Mr. Gyiraszin.
After days of testimony from many witnesses, including mental health experts, members of the Cadwalder family, members of the Defendant's family, Law Enforcement Officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, EMS Personnel, and other witnesses from the accident on that day; Mr. Gyiraszin was ultimately found guilty on both charges - Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault. For punishment, the jury assessed 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the Manslaughter of Pamela Cadwalker and assessed 10 year’s probation on the Aggravated Assault to Ralph Cadwalder. Mr. Gyiraszin must complete 5 years of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
District Attorney, Shelly Sitton, stated that “This case reflects the hard work and dedication of the Texas Department of Public Safety, and all those involved in seeking and ensuring justice. Our prosecutors worked tirelessly to present a thorough and compelling case. We hope this sentence provides some sense of justice and closure to the Cadwalder family, who have endured unimaginable loss.”
Mrs. Sitton wanted to thank Scott Ferguson, Assistant District Attorney, although retired, for returning to prosecute and see this case completed. A special thank you to the City of Livingston for allowing Scott the time to complete this trial. She also wanted to acknowledge all the long hours of preparation put in by Assistant District Attorneys, Zachary Dickens and Darrell Greer. Without their attention to detail and reviewing thousands of pages of discovery, justice would not have occurred.
The Polk County District Attorney’s Office remains steadfast in its commitment to holding offenders accountable and ensuring the safety and justice that our communities deserve.
