Robert Lynn Sheats Sentenced to 35 Years In Prison, LIVINGSTON, June 9, 2009 - On Monday, June 7, 2009, defendant Robert Lynn Sheats, 30, of Conroe, was convicted by a Polk County Jury of bringing methamphetamine into Polk County (officially called possession of a controlled substance, over 19 grams). Sheats was arrested on November 14, 2008 in a traffic stop executed by Lieutenant Andy Lowrie with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. During the traffic stop, Sheats was found to be in possession of 23 grams of methamphetamine. Sheats and 2 others were arrested in connection with the incident. Sheats was convicted by a Polk County Jury in 258th District Judge Elizabeth Coker's Court. The following day the punishment phase of the trial began. Before it was turned over to the jury, Sheats plead to a 35 year offer. The conviction serves as a reminder that the Polk County Criminal District Attorney's Office takes drug offenses very seriously, and will prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law.
