Two Men Who Refuse to Leave After Closing Hours Find Themselves on the Wrong Side of The Law, LIVINGSTON, June 5, 2008 - "We have a burglary in progress at City Office Supply...Possible weapons". That was the radio call shortly after 5:30 pm on June 4, 2008. In about 1 minute, Sheriff's Deputies and City of Livingston Police were all over the situation. According to sources, what happened was two men entered City Office Supply in Livingston shortly before closing hours, and when it came time to close, they refused to leave. To make matters worse, one of the men had a black T-shirt wrapped around his hand which led the store clerk to believe that the shirt was POSSIBLY concealing a gun. The tension mounted and the store clerk placed a call to the Sheriff's Department; that's when the call came over the radio. In the end, as things turned out, the men didn't have a gun and were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings (which means they're banned from that establishment) and were uncuffed and allowed to leave. The whole episode underscores the seriousness of local law enforcement about would be criminals, and the need for citizens to show consideration for others and business establishments.
