New Emergency Department at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Livingston Opening This Fall, LIVINGSTON, May 2, 2017 - Whether it’s a heart attack, stroke, broken bone or other significant trauma, patients in Polk County will soon be treated in the new state-of-the-art Emergency Department at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Livingston.
Hospital leadership, along with community leaders and officials with the CHI Texas Division, broke ground at the new facility last year, and project manager Ryan Herr said the construction of the 23,500-square-foot center is coming along nicely.
“We are currently framing walls, hanging drywall, ‘roughing in,’ reconfiguring parking and driveways, and erecting new entrance and ambulance canopies,” Herr said. “There’s a lot going on right now to get it ready, and we’re looking forward to unveiling the new Emergency Department to the residents of Polk County.”
The new facility, with an estimated price tag of $10.2 million, will be located on the ground floor of the South Tower Building. It contains 27 stations, including 2 triage bays, 16 exam rooms, 3 trauma bays, and 6 results-waiting stations, and adjacent radiology, ultrasound and CT rooms. There will also be specific areas for disaster response and decontamination.
The Level IV Trauma-designated emergency department at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Livingston sees nearly 30,000 patients each year.
“Our patients deserve the very best in emergency care right here at home,” said CHI St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Livingston Director of Critical Care Services Aubrey Winegarner. “Our highly trained staff is excited about providing necessary emergency life-saving measures in a more efficient manner, which should translate to shorter wait times, as well as provide additional privacy and comfortability for our patients.”
Herr said they estimate the entire project should be completed by October 2017.
