Eldridge Striedel Recognized as Polk Countian of the Year, LIVINGSTON, January 28, 2011 - The Livingston/Polk County Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet at 7 pm on January 27, 2011 at the Livingston Junior High School cafeteria. Attendees were served steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, peach cobbler and iced tea. In his last function as Chamber Chairman, Sheriff Ken Hammack welcomed attendees and helped preside over the annual bash. Additional speakers included incoming 2011 Chairperson Jessica Lattner, and Chamber Executive Director, Sydney Murphy. Awards were handed out for Senior Citizen of the Year (Jannis Duncan), Natural Resource (Harlan Camp), First Responder of the Year (Rocky Richards), Educator of the Year (Amy Jackson), Community Service Person of the Year (Jane Rowe Clark), and Polk Countian of the Year (Eldridge Striedel). Striedel was introduced by Executive Director Sydney Murphy and the award was presented by 2010 Polk Countian of the Year (Howard Daniel). Additional awards included Ambassador of the Year (Evelyn Rogers) and Senior Ambassador of the Year (Elfriede Zipprian). Outgoing 2010 Chairman, Ken Hammack, was also recognized for his year as Chairman and incoming 2011 Chairman, Jessica Lattner, took the reins. In Hammack's closing remarks he was thankful to sponsors, supporters and attendees, and concluded his speech thanking his wife, Winnie, for putting up with him for over 40 years.
