Casper Lee Moore repeatedly molested his own daughter.
Another Child Molester Goes to Prison, LIVINGSTON, November 22, 2008 - Shortly before noon on November 21, 2008, Casper Lee Moore, 49, of Big Sandy was escorted to the Polk County Jail after receiving a 70 year prison sentence from a Polk County Jury. Moore is just another sex offender in a series of successful prosecutions carried out by Criminal District Attorney William Lee Hon's team of prosecutors who are unyielding and uncompromising in their efforts to go after predators. The following is a press release from the Criminal District Attorney's Office:
A Big Sandy man was sentenced to 70 years in prison today at the conclusion of a two-day jury trial. Casper Lee Moore, 49, was convicted of two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child involving multiple acts of sexual conduct with his daughter. Moore was placed in the Polk County Jail after the jury returned the 70 year sentence in the 411th District Court of Judge Robert Trapp. Evidence painted Moore as a brutal husband and father who exercised tyrannical control of his family revealing the horrific circumstances of the child’s home life. Moore, under cross examination by the prosecuting attorney, admitted that he had beaten his wife with a belt – "like a step-child" in his words. The sexual abuse of his daughter began when she was seven years old and continued until shortly before her 13th birthday. At age seven she told her mother of the molestation. Her mother testified that Moore admitted the allegations but promised to stop. No other action was taken and the abuse continued. In the summer of 2006 when the child was twelve she again told her mother. Moore denied the allegations and the mother chose to believe him. Some months later the child’s emotional distress became plain to the mother and she talked to the child’s aunts about the allegations. The aunts acted quickly and removed the child and mother from the home. They both now reside outside Polk County near family members.
During his testimony Moore denied abusing his daughter, but admitted that the girl, at age twelve, slept next to him. He also confirmed that he had taken bubble baths with her until she was eight years old. Moore further asserted that he enjoyed having the girl’s friends sit on his lap where he rubbed their backs. Moore did not believe there was anything inappropriate about such behavior. Other testimony demonstrated that approximately 30 years ago Moore had fondled another child and that at age 18 he had fathered a child with a thirteen year old girl. Moore is the most recent in a series of child sex offenders who have received stiff sentences from Polk County juries and judges. Assistant District Attorney Joe Martin expressed his appreciation to this jury. "A sentence like this shows that this community stands for protecting our children. Every sentence contributes to the overall safety of all children. We may never end this sick behavior, but we can make the cost prohibitive. This defendant is one of the sickest of the sick. Obviously, there are others like him. This sentence should serve as a warning. "
Cuffed, shackled, and going away.
