US-59 South Bound, just north of Livingston, 2 pm on Sunday (06/26/22)
Fire Totals Car, LIVINGSTON, June 26, 2022 - Shortly before 2 pm on June 26, 2022, Trooper Nick Hatton, with the Texas Highway Patrol was alerted that there was a car fire near the location where he was on patrol. Trooper Hatton was on US-59 north of Livingston. Hatton turned his vehicle around and headed south towards Livingston. He found a black late model Acura sedan with the engine compartment on fire. Hatton was quickly joined by Trooper Kevin Burman. The driver had pulled to the right shoulder just before the north end overpass. The driver safely exited his vehicle. Hatton notified Polk County Dispatch who, in turn dispatched Livingston Volunteer Fire Department to the scene. The firemen safely extinguished the fire with no injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown, other than it originated in the engine compartment. The totaled vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and was stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
Livingston Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the car fire, but the car was totaled.
The interior was crispified.
