Cold rain persisted for most of Friday's game in Carthage.
Cold and Rainy, Unfazed Bulldogs Take Care of Business, CARTHAGE, November 24, 2013 - The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs faced what was probably their toughest test this year and came through with flying blue colors.  This was a game where the Bulldogs faced a team that only had one blemish on their record.  For the Hughes Springs Mustangs, nearly ever game they played this year they won decisively with blowout scores (much like the Bulldogs).  So I figured, "Okay, this will be a true test to see how good the Dogs really are", after all, this is the playoffs when only the best teams emerge from the regular season.  The weather was cold and it was raining.  The first quarter saw the Mustangs draw first blood, but the Dogs answered.  By halftime, the game was tied at 14.  In the second half, things would be much different as the Dogs would pound away at the Mustangs tough defense until there was a crack, the crack gave way and a flood of Bulldog points would ensue.

Scoring Summary

First Quarter:
4:12 Mustangs TD run and made 2 point conversion.  Mustangs 8, Dogs 0
1:23 Carlos "El Torro" Inguanzo runs in a 1 yard TD run (setup by an Inguanzo 20 yard run from scrimmage).  Dogs converted 2 point conversion.  Game tied at 8 apiece.

Second Quarter:
7:50 Inguanzo 1 yard TD run (setup by 26 yard catch and run by Keegan Mitchell).  Dogs missed 2 point conversion. Dogs 14, Mustangs 8
2:55 Mustangs throw TD pass and missed 2 point conversion.  Game tied at 14 apiece.

Third Quarter:
7:14 Malyk Johnson 16 yard TD run.  Dogs missed 2 point conversion.  Dogs 20, Mustangs 14
5:37 Keegan Mitchell 75 yard TD run.  Dogs missed 2 point conversion.  Dogs 26, Mustangs 14
3:35 Mustangs complete 4 yard TD pass, missed 2 point conversion.  Dogs 26, Mustangs 20
00:51 Johnson TD run from from 52 yards out.  Mitchell runs in 2 point conversion.  Dogs 34, Mustangs 20

Fourth Quarter:
10:14 Mitchell 32 yard TD run.  Johnson runs in 2 point conversion. Dogs 42, Mustangs 20
9:18 Mustangs complete TD pass and make 2 point conversion. Dogs 42, Mustangs 28
8:08 El Torro 34 yard TD run.  Missed 2 point conversion.  Dogs 48, Mustangs 28
7:00 Mustangs TD run.  Missed 2 point conversion.  Dogs 48, Mustangs 34
5:06 Addison Kirkland 33 yard TD run.  Mitchell runs in 2 point conversion.  Dogs 56, Mustangs 34
00:32 Mitchell 72 yard TD run.  FINAL SCORE:  Dogs 62, Mustangs 34

Commentary
This was a game where the Hughes Springs Mustangs showed up with their tough defense.  The Mustang defense was decent in the first half, but the Bulldog running game (spear headed by El Torro) wore down the Mustang defense.  Eventually, the Bulldog running game would run like crazy and the game became a route.  All the Dog running backs Inguanzo, Kirkland, Mitchell and Johnson had huge runs.  The Bulldog defense did give up some points, but that's gonna happen in the playoffs.  Carlos "El Torro" Inguanzo played an inspiring game.  He was all over the place both offensively and defensively.  The one two punch of running backs Keegan Mitchell and Malyk Johnson had their usual performances of dazzling break away runs.  The cream always rises to the top.  At this point, it's the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs who continue to rise.  Next up for the Dogs will be the Centerville Tigers.  I'm not sure, but I think the game may be played in Crockett.
