Reality Check, Corrigan Runs Into Tough Newton Team, CORRIGAN, October 26, 2014 - Ya knew it wasn't going to be a cake walk for the Bulldogs. Anytime Newton comes to town, ya just know it's gonna be a fight. This isn't Hemphill, this isn't Kountze, this isn't Diboll, this is the Newton Eagles. It's always this way, Newton is tough. This was an acid test to see where the Bulldogs are at against a serious football team. In all honesty, Corrigan played their best, but Newton just outplayed the Dogs. The Dogs won the opening toss and deferred to Newton. When the Dogs kicked off, Newton couldn't get a handle on the ball and the Dogs jumped on the live ball to take possession to start the game. At that point I was feeling pretty good, but it didn't take long after that for my euphoria to quickly evaporate as the Eagles intercepted a Bulldog pass and returned it 85 yards for a touchdown.

FINAL SCORE: EAGLES 44, DOGS 26
The Dogs played good, but not quite mistake free. The Dogs fumbled the ball twice and were also intercepted. Their defense was weak, and the Eagle defense was pretty good. This game will serve as a reminder to the Bulldogs of how they'll have to step up their level of play if they want to go deep into the post season.
