Win Over Hemphill Puts Bulldogs Back on Track, CORRIGAN, October 18, 2015 - The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs got back into the win column on Friday night in Corrigan when they beat the Hemphill Hornets in a game that the Dogs were supposed to win. One particular stand out was linebacker, LaDarius Hamilton who made many tackles and looked like the "Hambone" that we've grown accustomed to. Another notable observation was that the staff decided to make Ty Love the starting quarterback for the Dogs and used the usual quarterback, LaKendrick Moore as a running back and general offensive weapon. Moving Love to quarterback seemed to make good sense as he has good height which enables him to see downfield better and he's a threat to run the ball. Love completed several passes on the evening.
SCORING SUMMARY:
First Quarter: 6:20 Ty Love runs in a 1 yd td run on a qb keeper, FraDarion Johnson ran in 2 pt cnv. Dogs 8, Hornets 0
Second Quarter: 9:23 Jaylon Williams catches 42 yard td pass from Love, missed 2 pt. cnv. Dogs 14, Hornets 0
6:30 Hornets complete 52 yd td pass, missed 2 pt. cnv. Dogs 14, Hornets 6
Third Quarter: 6:03 LaKendrick Moore runs in 6 yd td run, missed 2 pt. cnv. Dogs 20, Hornets 6
Fourth Quarter: 10:16 FraDarion Johnson runs in 2 td, missed 2 pt cnv. Dogs 26, Hornets 6
7:21 Moore 2 yd td run, Moore runs in 2 pt. cnv. Dogs 34, Hornets 6
0:37 Hornets 2 yd td run, made 2 pt. cnv.
FINAL SCORE: DOGS 34, HORNETS 14
This was a good game for the Bulldogs as 2015 has been a little hard on the Dogs. Teams that they stomped last year like Trinity and Crockett have given the Dogs all they can handle. The good news is, this was the second district game and the win puts the Dogs at 1 and 1 in district play. Mind you, this was the Hemphill Hornets.... BUT A W IS A W! Next week the Dogs will face their nemesis when they travel to Newton to play the Eagles (and the Eagles knocked off Crockett on Friday).
