Family Member Shot in Apparent Self Defense Situation, LIVINGSTON, December 27, 2008 - On December 24, 2008 at around midnight deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office responded to a shots fired call. Deputies arrived to find that a 24 year old Hispanic male had been shot by the home owner Kelton Ogletree. It appears the homeowner observed their bedroom window shatter after hearing what sounded like an explosion. The homeowners observed a subject entering the bedroom through the shattered window firing a gun. The homeowner retrieved a handgun near the bed kept for protection and fired several shots at the subject striking him. The homeowners later identified the subject as their son Daniel Villareal. Daniel Villareal was treated on scene by Americare Ambulance service and later transported to Houston's HermanHospital by PHI air ambulance. This case is being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Polk County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers.
