Band member Hector Moreno was un-injured in the rollover accident.
Mexican Band Van Hydroplanes and Rolls, NEW WILLARD, December 25, 2010 - At approximately 9:35 pm on December 24, 2010, a white 2004 Ford E-350 commercial van driven by Hector Moreno, 17, of Nacogdoches, was north-bound on US-59 in New Willard when his van drove through a patch of water causing it to hydroplane. Moreno's vehicle left the road to the right, into the grass and rolled, coming to rest on the driver's side. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with DPS Troopers Chris Stanbery, Joe Cole and Sergeant Nita Bowen. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the accident. Uniforms and band equipment from the band La Aventura was spilled out onto the muddy ground as the van appeared to be totaled. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Moreno was issued citations for unsafe speed and no insurance. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service recovered Moreno's van and it will be stored in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 11 pm.
Nobody was injured but it was still a rainy, muddy, wet, sorry situation.
Hector's older brother (left) was the passenger.
Pink uniforms and band equipment was scattered in the area.
