Near Head On Collision, SWARTWOUT, December 23, 2024 - Shortly before 2 pm on December 23, 2024, the driver of a red Chevy Silverado was west-bound on FM-1988 South when he was nearly slammed head on by an east-bound red Ford Ranger (just west of FM-3126). The driver of the Ford Ranger crossed the center line and narrowly missed striking the Chevy head on. Instead, the Ford grazed the side of the Chevy. The impact caused the Chevy to spin around and come to rest facing east while the Ford left the pavement to the left and went into a ditch. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Simon Mijares and Sean Barnes with The Texas Highway Patrol. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Traffic on 1988 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The driver of the Ford is facing a citation for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic. The Chevy was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored in Livingston, while the Ford was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker and will be stored in Goodrich.
