37 year old Richard Leroy Thomas Wharton, of San Antonio was hospitalized.
18 Wheelers Meet by Accident, 2 Hospitalized, GOODRICH, December 22, 2016 - At around 8:30 pm on December 22, 2016, an 18 wheeler driven by Richard Leroy Thomas Wharton, 37, of San Antonio, pulled out of the Goodrich Truck Stop into the north-bound lane of traffic on 59.  Wharton allegedly failed to yield to another north-bound 18 wheeler and was slammed from behind.  Wharton pulled to the shoulder while the other 18 wheeler (driven by Andrezej Wyszogrodzki, 56, of Palos Hills, Illinois) pulled into the adjoining parking lot.  Trooper Chris Cain was dispatched to the scene.  When Trooper Cain Arrived, he spoke with Wharton and his passenger, Carl Hemphill, 50, of Converse.  Both stated that they were in pain.  Cain summoned an ambulance from Allegiance Ambulance Service.  Wharton and Hemphill were transported to ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries.  Wyszogrodzki was physically okay.  Wharton was cited for failure to yield.
