Vehicles Collide, 1 Rolls, LIVINGSTON, December 21, 2022 - At approximately 10:18 am on December 21, 2022, a white 2022 Toyota Avalon, driven by Richard Ellison Cope, 67, of Livingston, was west-bound on US-190 West. As Cope was about to pass the intersection of FM-350 North, a silver 2020 Kia Sportage, driven by Rita Holmes Hopkins, 80, of Livingston, pulled off of 350 and directly in front of Cope. Cope swerved to avoid but the vehicles still collided (glancing blow). The impact caused Cope to leave the pavement to the left. According to a witness, Cope's vehicle rolled about five times. Cope's vehicle came to rest upright in the soft muddy median. Hopkins' vehicle came to rest at the crossover. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Johnny Wilkerson and Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol. Due to using his seatbelt, and the softness of the drenched median, Cope emerged from his vehicle unscathed. He was examined by EMS personnel and released. Hopkins was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Hopkins will be cited for failure to yield. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Hopkins' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Cope's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing and will also be stored in Livingston.

Special thank you: Ken with Ken's Towing
