4 Wheeler Accident on FM-62 Leaves Rider With Life Threatening Head Injuries, MOSCOW, December 20, 2008 - Shortly after 11 pm on December 19, 2008, a late model Yammaha Grizzly 4 wheel ATV driven by Jerry Van Cleave of Texas City was west-bound on FM-62 less than a mile from US-59 and he somehow flipped his 4 wheeler on the pavement. Van Cleave sustained major head injuries when his head hit the pavement. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene and DPS Troopers Chris Caine, Bobby Perry, and Sergeant Rob Thomas of the Polk County Sheriff's office. Life flight was called for, but due to the foggy conditions, could not fly. Van Cleave was loaded onto an Americare Ambulance and rushed to Lufkin Memorial Hospital with life threatening head injuries. All traffic on FM-62 was blocked while the accident was investigated and cleared. At time of press, the status of Van Cleave is not known to PolkCountyToday.com. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing shortly after midnight.
