47 year old Carolyn Kennard of Livingston, failed to yield to oncoming traffic when she exited Walmart parking lot in Livingston and was broadsided by a pickup.
Accident Sends 2 Livingstonians to the Hospital, LIVINGSTON, December 18, 2013 - At around 5:15 pm on December 17, 2013, a tan GMC Pickup driven by Jake Herring, 25, of Livingston, was west-bound on US-190 West.  Herring was passing Taco Bell (next to Walmart) when a black Kia Optima driven by Carolyn Kennard, 47, of Livingston, pulled out of the parking lot of Walmart (failing to yield right-of-way) directly in the path of Herring.  Herring's pickup broadsided Kennard's vehicle.  The impact caved in the driver's side of Kennard's vehicle.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Livingston Police Department's Sergeant Ronnie Bogany, Adam Williford, and Paul Benfer.  Kennard was trapped in her vehicle.  Firemen used the jaws-of-life to pry her door open.  Kennard was loaded onto an ambulance and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries.  Herring was also transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital for precautionary measures.  Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  Carolyn Kennard was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign.  Kennard's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Bound's Autoplex in Livingston, while Herring's vehicle was recovered by Eastex Towing and will be stored in Shepherd.
