Trooper Donny Akers on the scene at 190 West at FM-2457
Motorcycle Crashes, Driver Hospitalized, LIVINGSTON, November 28, 2018 - At approximately 12:10 pm on November 28, 2018, a red 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan, driven by Andrew Schroeder, 63, of Livingston, was east-bound on US-190 West. As Schroeder was approaching the intersection of FM-2457 at the crossover (Next to the Corner Shell), he saw another vehicle in the crossover and thought the vehicle was about to cross in front of him (possibly causing a collision). The vehicle didn't cross in front of Schroeder, but Schroeder locked up his brakes and lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle rolled ejecting Schroeder in the process. The motorcycle came to rest in the center median. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Terry Mayer with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Donny Akers and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Schroeder was transported to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital by ambulance with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on the east-bound side of 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. His motorcycle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.
